Geography is a scientific subject and due to this, it is preferred by many aspirants from science, medical and engineering backgrounds. If you’re well versed with scientific subs, geography might be a good optional subject for you.
Geography doesn’t require a lot of mugging up, it’s a concept based subject and hence, needs to be understood, so if you’re someone who can’t mug up, geography as an optional is a good option.
There is no dearth of material in geography, there’s a lot of material available online or in bookstores, hence it’s easier to cover.
The biggest pro of taking geography as an optional subject is the fact that a lot of its syllabus overlaps with the general studies 1 and 2 paper of prelims, so extra efforts might not be required for the preparation.
While many aspirants swear by Geography as they’re optional, many others don’t regard this as the ideal optional for them.
