The Civil Services Examination is a national competitive examination in India conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to higher Civil Services of the Government of India
The UPSC Mains exam is the second stage of the Civil Services Examination. IAS aspirants who clear the Prelims are eligible to appear for the UPSC Mains.
Once the Civil Services Exam (Preliminary) results are declared, successful candidates will have to fill out the online Detailed Application Form (DAF) for UPSC Mains on the official website (upsc.gov.in).
The UPSC Mains syllabus can be divided into two parts: 1. Qualifying Papers (Paper A and Paper B) 2. Papers which are counted for merit ranking (Essay, General Studies and Optional Subjects)
The UPSC CSE Mains exam is scheduled from September 15, 2023.
Candidates who aspire to become IAS, IPS, IFS and IRS officers have to give UPSC Mains before they are cleared for the IAS interview/UPSC Personality Test stage.
