Jawaharlal Nehru University is ranked higher than Banaras University in the 2022 rankings of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). According to NIRF, JNU is currently ranked the second-best university in India, just behind the Indian Institute of Science.
JNU is well-known for its social sciences programs, particularly in disciplines such as political science, international relations, and economics. JNU has a strong reputation for academic research and is recognized as one of the top research universities in India.
BHU, on the other hand, has a broader range of programs and is particularly strong in areas such as humanities, sciences, technology, and management. BHU is also known for its rich cultural heritage and is located in the historic city of Varanasi, a hub of arts, music, and spirituality.
According to Banaras Hindu University NIRF report 2023, the median package offered during BHU UG 4-year and PG 2-year placements 2022 stood at INR 8 LPA. Apart from this, the placement rate recorded during BHU PG 3-year placements 2022 was 91%.
