JEE Advanced is a national-level entrance exam through which students get admission to undergraduate Engineering, Science, and Architecture courses in 23 IITs.
To be eligible to sit for JEE Advanced, students first have to first get top scores in the JEE Mains, which is an entrance test for admission to various undergraduate programmes in engineering and architecture.

JEE Advanced is a ‘test of elimination’ for the IITs, touted as one of the hardest undergraduate entrance exams in the world.
JEE Advanced has a syllabus that is very similar to JEE Main. However, there is a weighting disparity. Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry from the 11th and 12th grades are included in JEE Advanced.

Students can give exams in two languages that are Hindi and English, respectively and have two attempts in their lifetime to clear JEE Advanced.
Amid criticism around the difficulty of IIT exams, former IIT director V. Ramgopal Rao had asserted that the exam was “tricky and complicated” because it was designed to “reject candidates, not to select them”.
