Maths is compulsory for UPSC Prelims, and candidates must have a sound understanding of the subject till class 10th level.
As we all are well acquainted with the difficulty level for the civil service exam so if you are weak in Mathematics then start to do mathematics at least at the high school level. Only elementary Mathematics comes in the UPSC exam, not at a high level.
Maths is one of the most popular optional subjects for the UPSC Mains examination, but candidates who have studied this subject in their graduation should consider choosing it. You should prepare for Mathematics by working out the solutions.
Most of the aspirants take CSAT preparation lightly only because it is a qualifying paper but you have to score 33% marks to be cleared and if you fail to do so you will not be able to write the Mains exam even if you scored good marks in the General studies paper.
Maths is not compulsory for UPSC Mains, but if you take math as an optional subject, you need to compulsorily study mathematics.
One can easily crack the UPSC Exam even if a candidate is not very good at math. Maths is compulsory only for the UPSC Prelims and a basic understanding of the class tenth-level mathematics is required.
