Why ‘Brahmāstra’ Failed To Wow Me

September 11, 2022

I must say I was really excited to watch “Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva” despite what many haters and others were saying about ithe film even before its release.

Being a Marvel and Harry Potter fan, I was so happy that our very own Bollywood was finally making something of this scale, with such a big budget. But, I was disappointed.

Annoying Lead Couple

About Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, or Shiva and Isha, they meet one day ago and unhe ek dum se pyaar ho jaata hai. How? Most of the film was about Isha screaming Shiva's name, and vice-versa.

The story could have been told so much better! When you’re taking Hindu mythology, deriving your characters from its characters, there is so much you can build upon and around.

Poor Use Of Mythology

SRK and Big B's characters mouth stupid dialogues. Also, Nagarjuna’s character was thoroughly underwritten. What’s the point of roping in superstars if you can’t use them properly?

Injustice To Superstars

Some Saving Graces

No doubt, the VFX was really good. Also, another good thing about the movie for me was Mouni Roy’s character, surprisingly. Yes, Junoon did really well! But, that's all there is to it, nothing more...

I spent ₹2,000 to watch the film with my family on the first day of its release. My dad is not even returning the money I paid for the tickets as he hated the film that much. So, watch the film at your own expense, quite literally, if you have to!
