Chandrayaan-3 is a planned third lunar exploration mission by the Indian Space Research Organisation. It consists of a lander and a rover similar to Chandrayaan-2, but would not have an orbiter.
The estimated budget for the entire mission of ISRO Chandrayaan-3 is Rs. 615 crore.
Chandrayaan 3 is a follow up mission to Chandrayaan 2 but is more cost effective as Chandrayaan 2 costed around 960 crores.
Chandrayaan-3 mission is to demonstrate the capability of achieving a soft landing on the Moon.
Chandrayaan 3 is also said to be the most difficult mission by ISRO. The main objective of Chandrayaan-3 is to soft-land a rover on the lunar surface and soft-landing a spacecraft on the moon is tremendously difficult.
Chandrayaan-3, the succeeding mission to Chandrayaan-2, is set to launch on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 2:45 pm IST.
