JOSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) is responsible for the allocation of seats for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) in India.
JOSAA prepares a rank list based on the candidate's All India Rank (AIR) in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main or JEE Advanced.
Candidates are required to fill in their preferred colleges and courses in order of preference. Once the choices have been filled, candidates must lock their choices.
The Joint seat allocation process was introduced to make the whole process of admissions smoother, effective, efficient, transparent and a lot faster.
– In the first round of seat allotment, seats are allocated to candidates based on their rank, starting from the highest rank. – If a candidate is not allotted a seat in the first round, they can participate in the second round of seat allotment.
JOSAA seat allocation is a crucial step in the admission process for IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs in India. It is important for candidates to carefully fill in their preferences and lock their choices to increase their chances of getting the college and course of their choice.
