Fergusson College was established in Pune in 1885. At the UG level, the college offers B.A, B.Sc, and B.Voc courses. The college provides M.A. and M.Sc. programs in a range of fields for PG students.
Admission to several undergraduate degrees is open to applicants who took the Higher Secondary Examinations in Science, the Arts, or Commerce. According to university policies, admission to all UG degrees shall be based on merit.
Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examinations in order to be admitted to these programs. The qualifying test must be passed in the Science stream in order to enroll in B.Sc. courses.
Applicants will be accepted into the M.Sc. and M.A. programmes based on how well they performed on the entrance exam held by the relevant departments. Candidates must meet the requirements for each subject's eligibility.
For SPPU students, admission to PG programmes is based equally on merit and on performance in the entrance exam. Selections for other university students will solely be made on the basis of the entrance exam.
The UGC awarded Fergusson College the status of College of Excellence in 2017 and Special Heritage Status in 2014. The college is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).
