The Fergusson College has given the nation outstanding patriots, intellectuals, philosophers, poets, writers, teachers, and social workers over its 138 years of revered existence.
Bollywood celebrities like Smita Patil, and Radhika Apte, and politicians like P. V. Narasimha Rao and Vishwanath Pratap Singh have studied at Fergusson College!
In 1997, the Astro Club was founded. Exhibitions, lectures, workshops, sky observations, Space Week, and asteroid hunt programs are organized by students in the fields of physics and astronomy.
In 1921, the University Training Corps unit at Fergusson College started training National Cadet Corps members. Fergusson College is home to the Army and Navy wings of NCC.
On the campus' northern side, there is an outdoor theatre called Kimaya. After a trip to Japan, PL Deshpande, an alumni, had the concept. It is constructed without beams and incorporates features of contemporary architecture.
Politicians have termed Fergusson College in a variety of ways, including as the "twin of the Congress" and "cradle of Indian polity."
