Today I’m excited to share my journey from West Bengal to Varanasi, a city that has now become my forever home. West Bengal held my heart for 18 wonderful years, but a few reasons led me to embrace Varanasi, and I’ll reveal those reasons shortly.
Returning to Varanasi as an older adult, after being here as a child, has been a profound experience. The first thing I did was visit the sacred Ganges River. Bathing in its holy waters felt like a spiritual cleanse, washing away the dust of time and rejuvenating my soul. The tranquility by the riverbanks, the rhythmic chants during the evening aarti – these are moments etched deep in my heart.
Next, I visited the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, a spiritual powerhouse revered across the world. Standing before the ancient Shivling, I felt a surge of peace and reverence. The spiritual energy there is palpable, resonating through every stone of the temple.
And then there’s the Taj Ganges, a sight that symbolizes not just architectural grandeur but also the cultural richness of India. The view of the river from there is mesmerizing, especially during sunrise and sunset when the waters shimmer with golden hues.
But my journey in Varanasi is far from over. I’m eager to explore more of this ancient city’s treasures – from the peaceful serenity of Sarnath, where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon, to the vibrant lanes filled with stories of centuries.
Varanasi isn’t just a city; it’s a living mosaic of history, spirituality, and culture. Every corner whispers tales of devotion and resilience. The warmth of its people, the aroma of its street food, the timeless charm of its ghats – all these have woven themselves into the fabric of my new life here.
As for the reasons that drew me to Varanasi permanently, they’re deeply personal and intertwined with my journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth. Each day in Varanasi unfolds like a new chapter in a book I never want to put down.
