Nag Ashwin’s much-anticipated film, Kalki 2898 AD, is a visual spectacle with an ambitious narrative, though it struggles to maintain momentum throughout its runtime. The film oscillates between moments of brilliance and stretches of tedium, resulting in an overall mixed bag.

Amitabh Bachchan, in one of his massiest roles to date, steals the show as Ashwatthama. His performance is both commanding and entertaining, adding gravitas to the film. Prabhas, too, delivers a solid performance, especially in the climactic scenes where his character arc reaches a thrilling peak. The big revelation involving his character is one of the film’s highlights and leaves a lasting impression.
Deepika Padukone, though limited in screen time, makes a significant impact with her role. She brings depth to her character despite the brief presence, and her performance is commendable.
Nag Ashwin deserves praise for his ambitious vision and direction, but the film’s inconsistent pacing and uneven script prevent it from reaching its full potential. While the setup could have been more engaging, the film’s high points, particularly the electrifying climax, make Kalki 2898 AD a worthwhile watch. It’s a film that promises more in its future installments, and despite its flaws, it leaves the audience eagerly awaiting the next chapter.
