Election Commission of India ‘s refusal to back out on acting against PM Modi’s blatant communal remarks in one of his poll rallies in Rajasthan casts shadow on the transperancy, accountability and fairness of ECI when it comes to the ruling dispensation. ECI’s acceptance amongst common and ordinary electorate has began to fall, crumble and shrink refusing to go past the political interference and pressure tarnishing and denting it’s credibility and character further weakening it’s resolve to be a refree free from all forms and types of biases and prejudices. But at the end it’s the political compulsions and coercions that isn’t allowing ECI to come off this trap as it is continually cracking the whip against opposition leaders for taking a principled political stand against PM Modi and his party denying them a right which very much belongs to them. As ECI looks unconvinced with its own stand and position it’s the rank and cadre of opposition led parties especially Congress bearing the brunt of this high handedness as none of their grievances are being redressed brushed and painted as culprit’s proclaimed as guilty and offenders for excessively training their guns on the pradhan sewak and his party. Pradhan sewak can speak and shout out loud in high decibels but any rebuttal to it might draw penalty at the very first instance. ECI’s stature as an independent constitutional body has long been compromised as it can’t do much except for justifying it’s claims and counter claims as the rest is anyways history!
