What Does The French Word ‘Etiquette’ Mean

French word etiquette means “ticket”. Further French expanded the word meaning as “proper court behaviour “

By the 18th century English speakers taken the word etiquette as rules that indicate proper and polite way of behaviour or in other words we can say that set of rules or customs that control accepted behaviour in particular social groups or social situations. 

Let’s talk about some basic social etiquette.

1. Say thank you- showing your gratiude .

2. Offer compliments- appreciate others.

3.self control- most basic etiquette when you are in company alwsys check your behaviour  voice, tone ,pitch and manners.

4. Active listening- have patients listen carefully. 

5. speak with caution – pay attention  to your words,spaek with kindness and humbleness.keep your body language open. Don’t criticize and gossip unnecessarily. 

6. Be punctual 

7.make eye contact during conversations.

8.stand during introduction. 

9. Offer your seats to others who are more needy than you.

10. Be on time.

11. Hold door for others who are struggling  with door .

12. Take gift with you if you are invited  to party.

13. If you travel/ Eat in group pay your share.
