BJP’s  Extends Hand To MNS Chief Ahead Of Lok Sabha Elections

In a significant development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is actively engaging with Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in Maharashtra, potentially signaling a revival for the once formidable political outfit. BJP’s outreach towards the MNS aims to counter the influence of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena in the state’s political landscape.

Raj Thackeray, MNS chief, arrived in Delhi and met Union Home Minister Amit Shah today, sparking speculations about the purpose of the meeting. While details remain undisclosed, it’s speculated that discussions revolved around the MNS’s potential entry into the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Sandeep Deshpande, a prominent MNS leader, hinted at the party’s willingness to collaborate with the BJP, emphasising decisions would prioritise Marathi interests, Hindutva, and party welfare. The MNS eyes three key constituencies – South Mumbai, Shirdi, and Nashik – as part of the potential alliance.

The BJP’s strategic outreach to the MNS acknowledges the complex political dynamics in Maharashtra since the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. With traditional alliances fractured, securing MNS support could be crucial for BJP’s electoral ambitions in Maharashtra.

Founded in 2006 by Raj Thackeray, the MNS saw a rise in 2009 state polls but struggled in subsequent elections. If seat-sharing negotiations succeed, it could herald a resurgence for MNS, altering Maharashtra’s political equations. As Maharashtra gears up for elections, BJP’s strategic moves highlight its determination to solidify its position in the state’s political landscape.
