Hello, cine-goers! Do you love watching Bollywood movies? Do you, just like me, breathe Bollywood and bleed Bollywood? Is the cinema hall your favourite place to be in? Does your day remain incomplete without watching a Hindi film? If yes, the month of March is going to be the most enjoyable month for you, and this blog post is probably the right post for you to read!

The month of March will witness the release of several Bollywood films, and cinephiles might be confused about what to watch, and what to skip! Here’s a list of five Bollywood movies that are releasing this March that you might not want to miss watching at the cinemas!

1. Laapataa Ladies

Director: Kiran Rao

Actors: Sparsh Shrivastava, Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Chhaya Kadam, Ravi Kishan, Bhaskar Jha

Release date: 1st March (theatrically)

Where to watch: In cinemas now

Set in January 2001 in a village in the fictional state of Nirmal Pradesh in India, Laapataa Ladies tells the tale of a newly married lad called Deepak who loses his veiled bride on a crowded train, and brings home another veiled, newly married bride. He discovers that he has brought home a different bride only upon reaching his village.

A series of chaotic events unfold as Deepak tries to search for his original bride, Phool Kumari, and tries to send the other bride, Pushpa Rani, back to her original bridegroom. Laapataa Ladies is a sweet slice-of-life and coming-of-age comedy drama film that approaches the concept of feminism and smashes the concept of chauvinism in a unique way!

2. Shaitaan

Director: Vikas Bahl

Actors: Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, Jyothika Saravanan, Janki Bodiwala

Release date: 8th March

Where to watch: In cinemas from 8th March

Shaitaan is a supernatural cum horror cum psychological film which is an official Hindi remake of the 2023 Gujarati supernatural cum horror film called Vash. Ajay Devgn plays the role of a father, and Janki Bodiwala plays the role of his daughter. R. Madhavan plays the role of a stranger who comes to their house to charge his phone as his phone’s battery is dead. However, his visit to their house turns into an insidious affair as he gradually reveals his true colours!

Madhavan’s character turns out to be a gruesome man who performs the ‘Vashikaran Mantra’ on the young girl to totally bring her under his control and influence. The girl soon becomes a puppet who functions only according to her controller’s orders and begins to worship him as if he were the Almighty. Grave pandemonium erupts as things grow violent and gory! All Hell will break loose on the 8th of March as Shaitaan releases in theatres near you!

3. Yodha

Directors: Sagar Ambre, Pushkar Ojha

Actors: Sidharth Malhotra, Raashii Khanna, Disha Patani, Ronit Roy

Release date: 15th March

Where to watch: In cinemas from 15th March

Yodha, from the makers of Shershaah (2021), tells the courageous tale of an off-duty soldier who boards a passenger aeroplane which has been hijacked by terrorists. He not only strategically defeats the terrorists but also ensures that all the passengers on-board are safe and sound.

I am excited to watch Sidharth Malhotra in the role of a soldier, in a film that looks like a promising war cum action entertainer! The trailer of the film hints at a war drama film that is not only high on adrenaline-fuelled action but also high on patriotism. Shershaah was a big hit, and I hope that Yodha too strikes a chord with the audience!

4. Bastar: The Naxal Story

Director: Sudipto Sen

Actors: Adah Sharma, Shilpa Shukla, Yashpal Sharma, Subrat Dutta, Raima Sen, Indira Tiwari

Release date: 15th March

Where to watch: In cinemas from 15th March

Bastar: The Naxal Story is a film from the brave makers of The Kerala Story (2023). The film is based on the lives of the Naxalites who resided in Chhattisgarh, in the district of Bastar. The film will be loosely based on the Bastar Rebellion that broke out in 1910, in Chhattisgarh, and took the entire nation by storm.

Naxalism, Maoism, insurgency, and Naxalite-Maoist insurgency, are concepts that we all are aware of. Violence, radicalism, and extremism do not solve any political problem. Let’s hope that Bastar: The Naxal Story justly throws light on the incidents that really happened in the district of Bastar in Chhattisgarh. I am, also, excited to see Adah Sharma in the role of an IPS Officer!

5. Crew

Director: Rajesh Krishnan

Actors: Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon, Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma

Release date: 29th March

Where to watch: In cinemas from 29th March

Crew, as the title of the movie suggests, stars Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon in the roles of three diligent and hard-working women who look like they work in the aviation industry. They find themselves entangled in a series of unfortunate incidents, and ultimately get caught in a loop of lies.

A combination of two interesting genres of cinema: comedy, and crime. And a star-studded cast that will surely deliver power-packed performances! Doesn’t Crew look like a female-centric film? We can’t tell, as the film looks so mysterious to me! The posters and the teasers of the film are interesting and intriguing! The month of March ends with the release of Crew on Good Friday, and I am really excited to watch this film!

Other Hindi films that you can watch this month at the cinemas: Article 370 (in cinemas now), Dange (in cinemas now), Kaagaz 2 (in cinemas now), Madgaon Express, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar
