If the deal between Hamas and Israel is ably finalised following ongoing talks in Cairo, there is every chance to restore peace from the five-month-long war.
In the meantime, Egypt and Qatar are busy bringing the warring parties to terms. Egypt has called on all parties to demonstrate flexibility to catch up with an agreement.
Meanwhile, Hamas proposed a three-piece plan as part of its ceasefire proposal. A 45-day pause in fighting has been encouraged. Hamas would reciprocate female hostages, males under 19, and sick and elderly.
While Israel would swap women & children. Israeli forces would likewise pull out of the populated areas while hospitals and fairly refugee camps could be reconstructed.
The second phase would witness the next steps regarding the exchange of hostages and prisoners with Israel withdrawing from Gaza. The final phase would have seen sides swapping remains and bodies.
The proposal would have also seen food and aid deliveries into Gaza increased.
It is expected that Israeli forces if agreed, would not move into the southern Gaza city of Rafah. Tens of thousands of Palestinians sought refuge in the city to escape fighting within five months.
