An attempt with an intent towards religious polarization has began to be made with an great interest and investment so that the centre can reap the maximum electoral dividends on it. Maintaining the status quo of religious places- temple and mosque is an essential prerequisite of Places of Worship Act, 1991 with a defiant centre refusing to objectively look at the matter of facts.
After Ayodhya it’s the turn of Gyanvapi mosque which as per the reports of Archaeological Survey of India was an ancient Hindu temple with permission being approved to the Hindu side performing their worship in the southern celar of the complex after the intervention of High Court. This despite apprehensions and anxieties being raised by Muslim side which were largely overlooked by the reactionary Right training all it’s guns on the the Muslims for being totally indifferent and ignorant towards the legitimate concerns of the majority.
But, how can Muslims give an inch of space to them when at the very face they have been offering their prayers namaz from this site only. Bhartiya Janta Party by stoking jingoism and religious chauvinism and bigotry in the minds of both Hindus and Muslims wants to make them both hostile to each other and vulnerable to provocations amid communally colored and coded calls of genocide and ethnic cleansing a clear game plan of those running the show from behind their shadows.
I understand Supreme Court should intervene in this matter taking a suo moto cognizance especially for the manner in which the plot has been perfectly executed with an eye on political pluses and gains. BJPs tempo and enthusiasm on this matter clearly defines it’s agenda of getting where it would like to be – politically and electorally leaving nothing up for grabs for anyone as opposition still seems to be composing itself for connecting the dots.
Judicial intervention is the only instrument for settling the claims and counter claims consentually and mutually for all those shouting and crying foul and hoax over something opening new fault lines and frictions between two major constituencies who believe in universal brotherhood, prosperity, compassion and co operation whosoever is doing politics in their name are their biggest threats and enemies for breaking their social alliance and bonding. Its they who need to display some calmness, caution and alertness rather than aggressively and sharply reacting to the situation time is the greatest healer they should bear this in their head
