Rahul’s Caste Jibe On PM Modi

Rahul Gandhi,s caste jibe on PM Modi of not being by a OBC by birth with his Modh Ghanchi community included much later in OBC category by Gujarat government in July 1994 has caused a row and furore with BJP government demanding an unconditional apology from his end. Seen in the light of Modi,s remarks against Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the parliament who found Indians lousy, lazy and brainy infuriated rhe ranks and cadres of Congress.

Still, Congress should have practiced restrain and caution for the public utterances, expression and articulation of opinions and viewpoints especially from public platforms which has the potential to be misquoted and misinterpreted by vested interests. Batting for caste census is a separate constituency but for Rahul Gandhi,s remarks offers an upper hand to Modi weaponising all such acts and instances to his benefit for Rahul Gandhi lacks the scheme to connect the dots by triggering and provoking thoughts, emotions, sentiments and feelings of the common masses something where Rahul is seriously lagging refusing to go to the drawing board committing the same mistake again and again without a pause and reflection scuttling scope for grand old party in the long run.

Mani Shankar Aiyar and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra,s sarcasm on Modi,s caste (not exactly related to this community) gave him a trigger to target the grand old party calling it names from a dynast to bharasthachari eventually leading to intensifying of public support in his favour. Congress is still to learn it’s lessons in the right spirit essential for reviving, resurrecting and reincarnating it for preserving the ethos and morality of an argumentative and deliberative democracy thriving on the continuous and healthy flow of exchanges between government and opposition its idea has gradually began to wane and fade from the scenes over the past few years with avenues and spaces for dissent and dialogue shrinking it’s the civil society which needs to take the leap in this regard with opposition especially Congress loosing the track of the plot by not overhauling itself and a conduct that isn’t very promising nothing seems to be paying off well with the party being relegated to the oblivion and regional political formations becoming dominant it’s the Congress that will have to priortize on its vision, mission and objectives for staging a comeback by any stretch of imagination at all
