Pankaj Udhas was an living embodiment of a melodious and mellifluous voice and a maestro cultivating and curating his art and craft in a manner striking a chord with his audience resonating quite deep in their subconscious. Building his constituency in the minds and hearts of his admirers and followers his music acted as an instrument and agency to unite and bring people of different hues together as a hallmark of our rich syncretic and composite culture. Never allowing himself to slip behind the scenes it was his persuasion and passion that gave him courage, caliber and competence to devise and deliver whatever he could at his end to entertain, enlighten and enthrall everyone alike. His ghazals were truly a classic immeasurable for its spirit with a soul that always had deep meanings attached and associated with it for exciting our emotions apart from songs that were his forte for “Chitthi aayi hai” remains very much alive today for the power of sentiments and expressions it generated around when it came. Hope, in heaven too this sight remains very much a part and parcel of this genius who never looked for his stake except for amusing and arousing us by not leaving sense of purpose behind
