Controversy Surrounding The Gyanvapi Mosque: Perspectives And Challenges

A mosque is very important for a Muslim. A mosque is not just four pillars. It’s a place of worship. It’s a place of divine power. It’s a place where different faiths congregate for a special prayer like Friday prayer. It’s a place where five times prayer is performed every single day at their times.

It’s a place where Muslims come to take the bait (allegiance) under their imams (Muslim leaders). It’s a place where every poor rich, and Muslim belonging to different sects come together to pray. It’s a place where the Muslim community gathers for their children’s marriage. Indeed a Mosque is a very important structure for Muslims.

However, in this article, I will talk particularly about some mosques that were constructed forcefully and illegally on the pillars of Hindu temples. One such Mosque is the Gyanvapi Mosque. Well, we all have heard about this mosque. Probably two years back it was discovered a large Shivling like structure near the ablution site of the Mosque. Also, when archaeologists thoroughly conducted a survey they found evidence of Hindu idols and other scriptures and some pillars that take back to us the era when the Kashi Vishwanath temple was built.

Now, when the Varanasi Court has given its judgment in favor of Hindus, allowing them to do their pooja in the basement of the Mosque. The Supreme Court judges handed over the 839-page report to both groups of Hindus and Muslims. Those who welcomed the SC’s judgment were overjoyed and those who felt it was not a wise decision were sad and disappointed.

I asked why such extreme-thinking and conservative Muslims think this way that this is something where our fathers, grandfathers, and their fathers prayed and this is a holy site like Mecca and Madina. Of course, the Mosque has a very unique importance in the hearts of truthful Muslims. But why can’t the native Muslims of Varanasi and their Muslim leaders accept the decision wholeheartedly? Was there any reason to oppose the decision? Was it so holiest site for them?

The truth is that this Mosque was during the Aurangzeb tyrant ruler, who demolished the temple mercilessly and built the Mosque over that place in the name of religion. Not only this Mosque, he demolished several Mosques in Delhi and other parts of India during his reign. This man was responsible for the present condition of Muslims. History is getting repeated. Once the ruler who illegally demolished temples in his monarchy ruled, now is time for the temples to be built back and their Gods and cities that were torn apart resurrected.

There is no need for argument and opposition because there is clear evidence of a temple being built over that place. The SC’s judgment in itself is concert-proof. It meant a lot for those educated citizens who believed in the constitutional law of India.

Regards to some narrow-minded and extreme-thinking Muslim leaders and political leaders giving inflammatory speeches like Asaduddin Owaisi, MP of Hyderabad should carefully read the judgment of the Supreme Court and take action diligently whenever they make to garner the votes of the Muslims and spread hatred among the two dominant groups of our society. That’s all for today. Jai Hind!
