Old Men Declare War, And The Youth Fight In Uttarakhand

Ever wondered why our country is so over-populated that we are the world’s largest in terms of economy? Obviously not, because you have no time for that, but you can invest your time listening to senseless history and facts about some other races by a political leader that may not help in any way to grow in your life.

The biggest misfortune of our country is that some old man declares something, and the youth and even the elder people trust them and declare a war against the other races living in the same country, the same state, and even the same area as them. This co-existence and diversity of different people is not so recent; people have been contemporary to each other since the evolution of human races, and the fact is that they may also fight, but not like us.

Even animals fight with each other for their survival, and that makes sense to us, but ever wondered who are at the top of them? We humans. We are labeled as the most intelligent as well as the most humorous species existing in the world. Shamelessly, we have stopped using our brains now. An old man declares a war against a religion in the name of “Dharam Bacchao” (Save your religion), and the youth of our country follow them blindly without knowing the essence of what they are doing and how their ways would actually protect their religion.

Let me remind you that the concept of “saving” religion is not so old; there have been terminologies like the Bhakti Movement in the 6th-7th century, which aims to promote and preserve the religion by the use of education and kindness. I do not expect that these kinds of movements would now exist because the people existing today have lost their super tool to promote their religion, and that is education.

I have interviewed many so-called religious people, but when I asked some questions related to their religion, I did not get the answers I expected from them. This unfortunate situation has become a big cause of violence in our country. I am talking about the violent confrontations that broke out in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, on 8th February 2024, following the demolition of a madrasa and a mosque deemed to be unlawfully constructed. In response to the escalating communal tensions and unrest, four paramilitary companies have been deployed to Haldwani as part of an anti-encroachment operation.

Authorities have authorized a shoot-on-sight directive against those involved in the riots. Additionally, internet services had been suspended, and schools and colleges are closed for the day. The Uttarakhand government has placed the entire state on high alert following the violence in Banbhoolpura, Haldwani. Four individuals lost their lives in the violence-ridden area of Banbhoolpura, with over 100 police officers sustaining injuries, according to State ADG Law & Order AP Anshuman.

I do not understand why the legal work in our country has taken a communal turn from the past days ever since the Ayodhya temple was inaugurated. We live in a country where we talk about the Uniform Civil Code, which aims to establish uniformity in the country, whereas people are not ready to even educate themselves to confront these types of violence. I was born into a Hindu-Punjabi family and later became an atheist, but along my journey, I never thought of abusing any religion, whether it is Sanatan religion or Islam religion.

I have studied about all the religions like Buddhism, Jainism, Judaism, and Sikh religion as well, and I can say the more I have studied about them, the more I got to know that all the discrimination between these religions are totally a conspiracy and do not aim to develop the mindset of people. I do not say that I have read about each and every ideology written by the holy god of every religion, but this is the fact that none of the religion includes or tends to teach discrimination or hatred.

In conclusion, I would like to request every person and especially the youth of my country that it does not matter which religion you practice or which god you worship, just study about them. Study about their ideologies and what their message towards humanity is. The youth of our country have to decide what would be the future of this country. Either we would co-exist peacefully by educating ourselves and others or we would destroy the human inside us by blindly following andhbhakti. I have separated myself from practicing andhbhakti, when would you? Jai Hind!
