Nitish babu re grouping with Bhartiya Janta Party in Bihar sounds a calculated move for his unease with INDIA alliance and of not getting quite well with the Laloo family. Though, Nitish Kumar has been a natural ally of BJP for around seventeen years excluding his short term engagement with Rashtriya Janta Dal for his inability to break the ice with top brass of Bhartiya Janta Party. Nitish quite understands the political pulse and accordingly switches and snaps allies as per his political and electoral preferences, presumption and arithmetic.
Before stitching an alliance with RJD in August 2022, he had made every effort to go past the discontent and discord he had developed over the period of time with the likes of two deputy CMs around than- Renu Devi and Tarkeshwar Prasad apart from picking up a feud with now his deputies – Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha. I am yet to convince myself if it would be possible for him to make certain amends in his terms of engagement with both his colleagues in the light of past episode?
Will the situation be any different for Nitish babu while transacting on crucial bills for effective implementation of legislation for having to navigating and charting his own course. I understand though there might be some hiccups at the first instance but than he will have to mould himself burying the hatchet in the best of his capacity with loksabha polls being a litmus test for him with BJP trying to gain at his expanse he will have to stay wary and cautious at every step and moment a little overreaction bringing BJP into the play.
Had BJP not backed his bid to re unite again than it couldn’t have got the better for him announcing a Bharat Ratna posthumously for Karpuri Thakur a mascot of social justice hailing from extremely backward caste, BJP had already set the alarm bell ringing for Nitish babu. Secondly, Nitish knew RJD will electorally benefit from JD(U)s MBC and EBC constituency and not the otherwise options before Nitish were limited at the first place.
Any possible turnaround from his end may have repercussions for JD(U) as BJP might try to politically erase and finish it off pushing Nitish to a peril by way of President’s rule so that both RJD and JD(U) find themselves at the receiving end with an jubilant BJP emerging as a major stakeholder in 2025 state assembly. BJPs strategists and floor managers have done their homework right tightening their screws around Nitish Kumar anticipating his moves that might follow in the months to follow.
