Opinion: How Long Will The World Tolerate Netanyahu’s Alleged Genocide?

The situation has become more complicated since the start of the Israeli genocide campaign in Gaza about three months ago. The Israeli army has already killed about 23,000 Palestinians in the name of the war against Hamas, with approximately 10,000 of them being children. Consequently, America is Israel’s main partner in this campaign of killing innocent people, including children and women, day after day. America, the so-called self-proclaimed human rights defender of the world, strongly supports Israel in genocide in all aspects, including arms and money.

The goal is to establish occupation of the entire Gaza Strip by turning it into rubble, executing relentless destruction campaigns, and causing the killing and expulsion of the inhabitants. There is no doubt that without the help of the US and its allies, Israel would not have dared to commit this genocide. America has not only provided support to Israel with money and weapons but has also stood diplomatically by Israel. Even the US Secretary of Defense has repeatedly visited Tel Aviv to boost Israel’s morale, marking his fourth visit. Clearly, the war is more America’s than Israel’s.

Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel’s far-right government, is boasting that the war will be protracted. However, in reality, concerns are growing. The impact and repercussions of the genocide in Gaza are no longer limited to Gaza itself. The effects have spread throughout West Asia. Israel’s tensions with Hezbollah-dominated Lebanon are escalating, leading to increased attacks from both sides. The death of the deputy head of Hamas in an Israeli drone strike has heightened tensions. Hezbollah has vowed revenge. Tensions have also escalated in Iraq and Iran. A powerful explosion in Iran claimed more than 100 lives, indicating a new escalation of the conflict. Similarly, the death of a militia commander in a US raid in Iraq has sparked new tensions.

Meanwhile, Yemen’s Houthi group continues to target commercial ships associated with Israel in the Red Sea. Consequently, one of the main routes of world trade has become perilous. Most ships avoid this route and travel around Africa, causing a significant increase in transportation costs. The crisis in international trade is escalating. Initially, many countries supported the Zionist genocide wholeheartedly, but now they want to retract their support. International public opinion regarding Israel is rapidly declining. Several countries are pushing for Israel to withdraw from the war, despite its strong support from America. Moreover, there is growing unrest within Israel.

Initially, there was substantial public support for Netanyahu, but it is now waning. The economic shock has been particularly severe. At least $260 million is spent every day just to sustain the war. The GDP declined by 5 percent in the October-December quarter. With a large portion of the population engaged in the war effort, there are fewer people contributing to production. Consequently, Israel is importing workers from India to prevent an economic collapse.

Additionally, Netanyahu has faced a significant setback in the Supreme Court, which declared the bill aimed at reducing the powers of the judiciary null and void. The crisis in world trade and the global economy is escalating, while international pressure on Israel is mounting. It remains to be seen how long the world powers will tolerate the genocide perpetrated by Netanyahu in this situation.
