Bulldozer Justice And Communal Unrest

Politics in India has taken on a new dimension in terms of providing justice to the people. The “Bulldozer Justice” has gained prominence in different parts of the country. Simply put, the bulldozer culture gained prominence in the political discourse of Uttar Pradesh and beyond, thanks to its extensive utilization by Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of the BJP.

While bulldozers are commonly employed throughout India to dismantle unauthorized constructions, in this instance, they have been wielded as an unconventional instrument and a demonstration of power against criminals, participants in communal violence, rioters, and individuals facing criminal charges.

This unconventional use of bulldozers for political purposes originated in Uttar Pradesh and later extended to Madhya Pradesh, where they were employed to project a resolute stance against criminal elements. Some narratives suggested that much of the bulldozer’s application had a communal undertone.

Detractors argue that embracing “bulldozer justice” represents an initial step towards an authoritarian society, wherein the well-being, life, and freedom of individuals become subject to the arbitrary decisions of state authorities.

Apart from this system of providing justice, the government has forgotten that they should consider the people who have no idea why they miserably stand up and start spreading hatred in the name of religion.

In the latest case: On Sunday night, a clash was reported in the area, with several videos of the clash going viral. In those videos, cars carrying flags of Lord Ram were attacked by people from the Muslim community, following which riot police were deployed in the area hours before the consecration of the Ram Temple.

Now, one day following the bulldozer incident in Mumbai’s Mira Road, the Mira Bhayandar Vasai Vihar Police issued a directive on Wednesday, urging social media administrators to refrain from disseminating or forwarding any jokes or videos pertaining to the clashes that occurred on the eve of the Ram Temple pran pratishtha. The note indicated that the police would take legal action against group administrators who violate this order.

Communal unrest persisted for a second consecutive day in Mumbai’s Mira Road following the inauguration of the Ram Mandir, with tensions escalating between two communities. A widely circulated video captured clashes that included an assault on an auto-rickshaw and the damaging of shops and vehicles. This incident unfolded in the aftermath of a disagreement near the Naya Nagar area preceding the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha, prompting an inquiry by Deputy Commissioner of Police Jayant Bajbale.

An independent news outlet shared a video on its official platform illustrating the clashes in Mumbai. The video depicted a mob attacking an auto-rickshaw and targeting establishments affiliated with other communities in a renewed episode of violence related to the Ram Temple. Deputy Commissioner of Police Jayant Bajbale reported that the conflict began when individuals from the Hindu community raised slogans in the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road.

If we just ignore the incident for a moment, then how do we justify the hatred being spread by us? Just because one person is born in a different religion than yours, does it mean that you would kill the human within you first and then kill that person as well just because he doesn’t practice your culture? Ridiculous!

As a rationalist, it makes no sense to me that your supreme god would be happy watching you spread hate against people of other races. You, yourself, have made this perception in your mind and did not realize that all people have been coexisting in the same land since the existence of your own ancestors. What harm did their existence do to your religion? You are living a great life in this country, and you should be proud of it. Even you should be proud of your ancestors, your parents who suffered themselves to provide you with this life.

Do not waste your existence in the name of your religion. I do not label myself after any religion, and that is why I can think like a rationalist. What is stopping you from adopting a rational mind? I am not saying that you should become an atheist or a rationalist, but only by thinking like a rationalist would help this society to develop.

Riots and hatred existed before, but this doesn’t mean that you should shed the innocent people’s blood. Think rationally, act wisely. Jai Hind!
