It was not a story about the bloated incident but a bare real happening about an uneasy railway journey. Over 2,500 passengers of the two respective Express trains were, as news reported, stranded at UP’s Burhwal junction of Bara banki district following the staff of one of the trains told them that his duty hours were over, while the other train’s loco pilot claimed uneasiness. Later, the NER sent staff from Gonda junction to attend the two express trains to calm down the grim situation.
There was neither water nor food nor a power supply inside the train. Therefore, the uneasy and enraged passengers came onto the rail track blocking the express train’s movement. They did not fail to protest the slackness of the railway employees. The incident occurred with Saharsa – New Delhi Special Fare Chhath Puja Special (04021) and Barauni-Lucknow Junction Express (15203).
According to the railway, 04021 which was supposed to depart on November 27 at 7.15 pm, departed its originating station Saharsa on November 28 at 9.30 am. The train reached Gorakhpur over 19 hours late. The Express had no halt at the Burhwal junction, but at around 1:15 pm, the train made reportedly an unscheduled halt.
The second train, Barauni which was already running late by more than five hours and 30 minutes reached Burhwal junction at 4.04 pm. It also noticed the train staff leaving the locomotive engine.
“Our journey was supposed to finish up in a maximum of 25 hours 20 minutes. But it was the third day on this so-called ‘special train’. This looks like special torture created by Indian railways for the poor passengers. No water, no pantry car to buy food and no power supply was there. The loco-pilots and train guard have disembarked from the train referring to sleepiness,” spoke out a nervous passenger travelling from Saharsa along with his relatives to New Delhi.
There remains nothing quite as disturbing as the sight of the trains. The train is not a figurative mode of journey but it has its extensive usage. The running of trains possesses a fast-paced standard and its abilities have been taken as extraordinary. Its sway on all those who opt to travel by train does not require any extra mention.
