Suddenly echoed a loud sound. The echo was entirely disconcerting. The younger member of the house embarked on finding out how it was caused. The actuality came to be known quite easily. The loud clamour emanated out of the quick closure of the front sloped access door of the mousetrap.
Finally, the rat that has made its actual presence in the house for the past several days, was in the tight confines of the traditional wooden trap. This became not only a solace from the continuous dread of the single running rat all around the house on the fourth floor of the big building.
Weatherwise, the craving to be cosy at all times remains stronger for a rat than ever. The small creature having thought so entered the house definitely for its rather complete cosiness. Eventually, it remains difficult to know what the rat as an outsider would have felt. All of these details, whether the rats used to cause the trepidation, the most hated tiny critter of all periods, are not greeted in the house. If it usually brings about feminist outrage as it happens to be a meaningless varmint, its adherents are plainly nobodies.
Though the mousetrap was placed with the idea of entrapping the restless rat in a lone corner for the last several days it may served the purpose of catching the rat. But it went inside the trap and then returned so easily as the entrapment trick was not finely arranged.
This was revealed only when the house lady told the maid who appeared well-versed in the job. However, the maid did not fail to understand the flaw in pinning the piece of roti on the hook.
She asked the house lady how would the rat be caught if the small piece of bread with the coating of desi ghee was not properly hooked. She moved to fix it appropriately and a few hours later the rat was entrapped with a big bang. There was indeed a big difference between a rural woman and an urban woman.
Had she not corrected the incorrect way of placing bait inside the trap it would not have been possible to get rid of the disturbing as well as the punchy rat.
This small creature was caught by applying the same old tested manoeuvre of luring into the mousetrap through a bait. What was utmost required was fixing of the door properly.
