Pakistan’s Bolwing Coach Morne Morkel Resign From His Post In PCB

On Monday, Morne Morkel, the former South African fast bowler, resigned as the bowling coach for the Pakistan cricket team, just two days following their exit from the World Cup in India. Under the leadership of Babar Azam, Pakistan faced defeat in five out of nine matches during the ODI tournament, with their final loss to England by 93 runs in Kolkata.

Morkel had joined the team in June on a six-month contract after completing his assignment with the IPL’s Lucknow Super Giants. His initial involvement with the Pakistan team was on their tour of Sri Lanka for a two-Test series.

The Pakistan Cricket Board will announce Morkel’s replacement in the coming days, as the team gears up for a three-match Test series against Australia scheduled from December 14, 2023, to January 7, 2024.

Despite finishing fifth and missing the semifinals, the PCB faces calls for significant changes from former cricketers, including the removal of Babar Azam as captain.
