Eden To 49: On Virat Kohli’s Historic Win

virat kohli statement on nationalism

Ultimately, the day has come after nearly a decade when the record set by the God of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, is met by another cricketer.

Virat Kohli played massively against South Africa in the World Cup and equalized the record for the highest number of ODI tons in the history of cricket.  It was not an easy task for him. Right from his first century, he used to struggle hard for runs in the first 4 years.

After he attained full pledged captaincy of the Indian team, he geared up with his lifetime highs with ample scores in his career.  Later, when the Indian cricket selection committee dropped him, he seemed to have been disappointed and had not scored a century for more than 1000 days during covid times.  But after he scored his first T20I century later, he started his original cricketing action and soon scored 10 centuries and equalized the record on his 35th birthday.  If he is fit and fine, he has the very best opportunity to equalize the score of 100 tons in his international career if he plays for 5 more years with the same fitness and enthusiasm.

During the midst of his career, he even married, took paternity leave amidst an Australia tour and did his work as a father very suitably. Sachin Tendulkar fell short by 1 ton in setting the record, but we can hope for Virat to set a new record in ODI tons as India is going to play atleast 2 matches in the World Cup.
