Nawaz Sharif Returns From Self Imposed Exile

Former Pakistan Premier and PML(N) founder Nawaz Sharif has returned from a self imposed exile to Pakistan. Sharif,s Lahore address was a case in point on why normalisation of relations with neighbouring India is in its larger interest and by not acting on it well in advance his chances at ballot in next year,s parliamentary elections might visibly shrink. Unlike Imran Khan,s Tehreek E Insaf, Nawaz,s PML(N) sounds a credible alternative with a grassroot presence. However, Imran,s popularity is quite immense but with the army playing playing a spoiler chances of a Imran Khan bouncing back appears slim. Though, PTI will hit the ground with full force but with many of its leaders and legislators having switched loyalties repeating a 2018 like electoral performance looks bleak for him. Thirdly, corruption is not a plank anymore on which PTI can get sympathy as its own chief is marred in serious scandals and corruption charges from which he is not going to come clear anytime soon. However, with Nawaz Sharif too there are many legal and political loops and hurdles getting out of it will be not less than a miracle. Though, Nawaz with his experience and exposure knows how to deal with the army and will leave no stone unturned in countering and combating for his pro India image objected by Pakistan army. Nawaz was the first one personally visiting Modi in 2014 when the latter became Prime Minister, India. This optics wasn’t acknowledged by the higher ups in the army still he negotiated and found a way out for his acknowledgement of diplomacy and foreign policy Nawaz Sharif appears as a best bet for India to calm the creezes and strains in the ties between both India and Pakistan a project which is still an ongoing one. All will depend if Nawaz will get a short in power at 2024 or will it end up playing in the hands of stooges of Pakistan military establishment. Definitely going to become an interesting affair as New Delhi will be watching this one unfold with great enthusiasm and interest
