“Medical Emergencies, Transporting The Deceased Has Become Difficult For Us”

Living in the neighborhood of Gaondevi Mandir Road, next to the Ration Shop in Juliuswadi, Malad West, has become an arduous journey for us, the residents. We find ourselves caught in a distressing situation, facing the daily challenges posed by unauthorized constructions and encroachments in our community. Despite our relentless efforts to seek assistance from the local authorities, our pleas have fallen on deaf ears, leaving us in a perpetual state of inconvenience and frustration.

Our ordeal began with the unauthorized construction activities undertaken in our area, specifically in the common access footpath. Walls, stairs, and storage blockages have sprung up, obstructing the smooth movement of people, materials, and even emergencies. The situation has escalated to a point where accommodating guests, handling medical emergencies, or even transporting deceased loved ones has become a daunting task due to these encroachments.

We approached the Building Department Authorities of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) with hopes of finding respite from our plight. We filed multiple complaints, emphasizing the urgent need to clear the unauthorized constructions and restore the common access footpath. To our dismay, the response from the BMC has been disappointingly lackluster, leaving us feeling helpless and ignored.

Our initial complaint in April 2023 marked the beginning of our struggle. We followed up on our complaint through various channels, including online complaints and letters, providing reference numbers to document our persistent efforts. Despite our numerous reminders, the BMC office staff failed to take concrete action, leading to growing frustration among us, the affected residents.

A glimmer of hope emerged when a BMC staff member visited our location on 27th September 2023, assuring us that appropriate action would be taken. However, since that visit, there has been no progress, leaving us in a state of limbo.

The affected area, located at Liberty Garden, Mamledarwadi Marg, is an integral part of our community. The hindrance caused by these unauthorized constructions not only affects us, the immediate residents, but also impacts the overall safety and accessibility of our neighborhood. The lack of action by the BMC Building Department not only highlights the inefficiency of the local administration but also raises concerns about our well-being and safety.

In light of our plight, it is imperative for the BMC to address this issue urgently. Timely and effective action is essential to ensure our safety, convenience, and well-being. We deserve a neighborhood where we can live without fear, inconvenience, and hindrance. It is the responsibility of the BMC and its officials to uphold our rights, ensuring that our concerns are heard and acted upon promptly. Only through swift and decisive action can the BMC demonstrate its commitment to the welfare of the citizens it serves and restore our faith in the local administration.
