A Letter From A Bad Feminist

This is an image of feminist protest

Dear Society,

This letter is to make you aware of the changing scenario of feminism in our community from an inappropriate feminist perspective. I, being a Bad feminist, have observed this change taking place at a fast pace. The definition of feminism, from my point of view, has always been that of a revolution, which has grown stronger over time.

A revolt that kept on protecting the rights and voices of women (the dominant creature, as apprehended by the people). However, the definition kept on changing as time passed by. Gradually, it became a process of empowering women with equal opportunities than that of their counterparts. My bad feminist point of view raises questions here in this context. Why the question of equality is even coming up? Why talk about women’s empowerment all of a sudden? Why do women require a delegation?
You might find these questions irrelevant and objectionable, which is completely fine.

This perspective is hard to apprehend for anybody aware of these terms associated with feminism. Still, I would like to clarify the questions that I have raised. In answering my first question, I would like to say that I contradict the concept of equality and women not getting equal opportunities, unlike men. Women are born with enough power to make their own opportunities. They need not be treated as weak individuals requiring equal chances to survive happily. They already have every right to be at the same societal status as their counterparts. Then why do they need to fight for the opportunities that are already theirs?

I differ with this whole concept in reply to my second question. Why this extraneous phenomenon of women’s empowerment has surfaced? Women in our country are believed to be the embodiment of power. She is the power and the mother nature. Who are we to empower her? Therefore, I, the Bad Feminist, nullify this social aspect of women’s empowerment.

Answering my third and last question, I highly object to the so-called fact that women need empowerment. Why do we even think of them as a creature having no power? Why do they need to be empowered? Why do such events take place where women are getting victimised? Why do they think of themselves as victims in the hands of males? What is the need to play the victim when you know you are the hero? You are the power that drives this universe. Why would we women require empowerment? No other person in the globe can empower us if we fail to recognise the power within us. This power is enough to wreak havoc over evil. It is enough to make our own position and to be ourselves without depending on the identity of any male in this world.

Kindly consider my opinion and recognise the true definition of feminism before it’s too late. Women need to be alert before another person endows them with any power to take back what is already theirs.

Yours faithfully,

A Bad Feminist
