Sabyasachi and I first met through an online meeting in 2016. What captivated me most was that, in an age dominated by hookup culture, Sabyasachi was genuinely interested in getting to know the real me. Our first meeting was far from extravagant – just two people standing on the corner of a street, chatting as we were. Afterward, he returned to Bhopal, while I remained in Calcutta for work. Initially hesitant due to the distance, I eventually changed my mind and said yes to a relationship.

Both of us hail from Bengali backgrounds, sharing not only cultural similarities but also similar upbringings. These shared values drew us closer and strengthened our connection. We both value family deeply and have been living together since December 2019.

We made a significant career shift, leaving our jobs to start Park Street Cafe in Bhopal, where we prepare exclusive Bengali cuisine. Introducing Bengali food to Bhopal was a new and exciting venture. Moreover, we founded the Heychel Foundation, which focuses on celebrating Indian festivals as fundraisers. The funds raised contribute to girls’ education, improving menstrual health in schools, and supporting women entrepreneurs who run businesses from home or with limited capital.

I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have someone like Sabyasachi in my life. He possesses a beautiful and compassionate heart that knows how to love and respect others simply because they deserve it. Not to mention his exceptional culinary skills.

Transparency, honesty, and respect serve as the guiding principles of our relationship, keeping it alive and strong. Beyond our love, respecting each other’s identities and providing space for one another are crucial elements that nurture our bond and make it enduring.
