Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, a family entertainer with heartful cast of Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi.
It’s beautiful, it’s warm and delightful approach of being unapologetic peak Bollywood. Took me back to K3G days.
Saregama lends it’s iconic songs and makes this musical experience even more memorable, most desirable quality of film is that focuses on both perspectives of leads/protagonist that are Ranveer and Alia.
They have broken the stereotype of how one needs to be in society, I although did found this like old recipe with modern take, but it’s ups and downs takes you with lots of laughter and tears throughout.
This one is what we needed, a complete package. For me three songs standout “what jhumka” “Tum kya mile ” and “Dindora Baje Re”.
Rest didn’t leave much of impact but heartthrob was good to okish. I would’ve appreciated if they had given “What Jhumka” Better choreography though it works as a song, which makes me appreciate the beauty of leads channeling energy on the dance floor.
I like the film how it approaches to the reggressive mindset of the people but also at the same time how Literates can be full of themselves, also mean by making fun of the dumb people which makes looking at them now even dumber.
They beautifully explored the dynamics between the characters, how Ranveer’s Rocky becomes the soul of the relationship where the alia’s character Rani becomes shield, keeps tough exterior in the relationship. Unlike the stereotypical version of man being strong and women being naive, finally universe is over it. Phew!
I like the movie has taken the approach of being a musical at the time with old and new songs but the movie as sold as a family entertainer has too many intimate scenes (kissing) which made me uncomfortable while watching this with my grandmother (my personal take) but I did enjoy the film for what it is and I feel the bare minimum made on box office is very underwhelming because the movie deserves better and it was sold from very generic standpoint which was disappointing factor of the marketing strategy.
I don’t know what were they thinking the movie’s so so better maybe because trailers set expectations, they wanted it low this time, so I was thoroughly impressed of what I got. The movie really disappointed with that varun dhawan having only 1 second cameo, I really wonder why he accepted that.
Ranveer with this is one of the best actors of our country, he invented Rocky as one of the most adorable and emotionally vulnerable character and made rocky very lovable, for him to do that to make him look so funny and dumb at the same time, you know it ranveer is one hell of a talent & kudos to Karan johar for pulling this off and it’s one of the most unique characters in his filmography, you know well his characters keep going through some of the evolution and Rocky is one of the unique one’s and very much stands out. Relationship was explored with very gently and it pleases you with it’s vulnerability.
Alia Bhatt is of the actors who has constantly delivered in terms of performances (Exception Brahmastra). She comes forefront with jaya bachchan’s character, and quite literally make heroic exist.
I quite well said ‘ it’s all queen show ‘ it doesn’t matter whether you believe or not, she is the best right now out there, right next comes kiara with her performance as katha in Satyaprem ki katha who constantly improves as an actor.
Jaya Bachchan needed better writing also redemption arc or emotional validation, it felt incomplete with her character, although she was very much villainous throughout the film.
Dharmendra Ji and Shabana Ji makes you believe in love all over again, Dynamic between them and love has no age and it’s thought provoking affair keeps you hooked and engaged.
They are veteran actors and they contribute well enough, to the movie & make it delightful watch. We need more of these please, KJO give us more of your directorials please.
I genuinely recommend this for those who wish to have good time and do not cringe at ranveer singh. Grow up.
