A school in Muzaffarnagar,s Khabbupur has come under the scanner with a teacher egging students to slap a Muslim boy. Though the reasons have not been cited but it is believed that the Muslim boy didn’t paid much attention to his studies and as a result forced to bear the burnt inconsolable in crying. After complaints were filed against the teacher authorities did swung to action and tried to bury the matter with the boy, s parent too not taking it forward.
This particular incident has once again raised how hate and deep rooted prejudices and stereotypes being weaponised and normalized against Muslims in a new India which is but becoming increasingly intolerant, regressive, reactionary and aggressive in it’s action, attitude and approach of dealing with such kinds of issues and matters. Seems like our schools are becoming an extension of politics with the latter influencing it to the hill and core impacting and influencing the amity, co operation and brotherhood between students belonging from different sects and strata in a diverse setting such as an classroom.
Such traits are really unbecoming of an education system with it’s fruits being unequally distributed can a country than boast of ensuring everyone’s right like equality and dignity fundamental to any citizen ? A question we need to ask ourselves don’t we get irked, intrigued and annoyed imagining at the scheme of affairs leaving us shocked and ashamed. Nothing putting an end to this ordeal
