The halfway mark for gaining over the Delhi Bill in the Rajya Sabha comes at either 117 or 120, and with the support from the BJD, YSRCP, TDP, and Mayawati’s BSP, the BJP-led government has procured a tally of 127. This is where Kejriwal is failing in his all-out efforts to defeat the confrontational bill at this critical time. It appears that this unique grabbing of numbers has overshadowed the no-confidence motion.
Although Opposition parties unite to raise their united voice in the Parliament yet the numbers disturb its strategy to a larger extent. Despite knowing the fact about its defeat in the House, Opposition parties are not turning their back desperately from what has unitedly been decided before. The whole of the procedure would taste supposedly an overnight metamorphosis.
BJD & YSRCP support for the bill will ease its passage in Rajya Sabha, where the BJP-led NDA does not enjoy a majority. With a strength of 92 members in the Rajya Sabha, the BJP finds its strength quite better with other parties’ support taking it to a comprehensive tally of 127 or 129 MPs, as reportedly said. The AAP needs 117 votes to check the smooth passage of the contentious bill.
The fate of no-confidence motion is seemingly more perceptible. This humble effort retains its appeal, but influential numbers gravitate towards the ruling party which spurs a more accurate outcome. There has been an uproar on the burning issue of Manipur since the very first day of the monsoon session of Parliament. The no-confidence motion remains a part of their concerted efforts. The Opposition has an optimistic strategy that dwindles before the strength of numbers.
Opposition parties have categorically demanded a discussion on the Manipur issue and PM Modi’s statement on this matter in the House. On July 26 the united opposition presented a no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha amid the ongoing deadlock between the government and the opposition.
The main strength between the ruling NDA and the Opposition alliance will be displayed in the Rajya Sabha. Apart from this, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has also talked about going against BJP. AIMIM has two members in the Lok Sabha. The BRS with 9 MPs support the Opposition alliance.
