Poetry: “I Am Manipur, Crying In Pain”

Manipur violence

Manipur violence

Trigger Warning: Mentions Rape

I am Manipur, listen to my cry.

I witnessed a tragedy with no way to be shy.

My sons are massacred, and my daughters are raped.

Just for petty reason my soul was shook.

Is it fair to leave me in hook.

I am crying for peace, I am dying for peace.

Meitei or Kuki are two of my eyes, but both are fighting like no way to fly.

I am already burnt in the past that wound still healing fast.

I saw surge of militancy and rule of ASFPA that made my child life quite hard.

But I leave all the wound so behind and so far.

I had begun to rise in the new path.

But fresh one is so unbearable and painful.

It is forcefully imposed on our head, I am scattered because of your negligence my mate.

Still, you are fighting about my matters of parliamentary debate.

I feel so lonely and devastated.

Please do me a favour stand with me in the time of saviour.

I expected a broad media coverage and political support.

Your petty politics led me to this, you make brothers (kuki and meiaty) their enemies.

The nexus between media and politics makes me wounded and handicapped.

I am manipur, crying in pain.

Don’t you listen or it just goes in vain.

I am Manipur listen to my cry.

I am crying for justice, I am crying for peace.
