Supreme Court,s decision granting extension to Enforcement Directorate Director SK Mishra till September 15 after centre,s plea is a move that has come under the scanner with many pointing towards it’s timing. From, ED to CBI the autonomy and morality of constitutional bodies, agencies are organs have long been compromised and neglected acting at the behest of their political bosses cracking the whip on all those not falling in line. Nothing can be said of those taking directions from above which in a way is impacting the neutrality aspect while investigating economic offences and crimes serious in nature. Remaining a mute spectator bowing to superiors refraining to call a spade by it’s name can we truly imagine what kind of country we are actually becoming where an accused without a fair trial is reprimanded and humiliated and the actual guilty roams freely and unworringly. Don’t we have examples before our eyes the Brij Bhushan, s, garlanding of Bilkis Bano,s rapists. Seems like Judiciary too has surrendered to the popular will with verdicts and pronouncements taking their own course. Need of the hour is to expedite cases concerning and related to corruption in special courtrooms where proof of burden exclusively lies with ED and CBI and they be set free from the diktats, whims and fancies of the executive by bringing in a legislation at least saving their skin and grace as for undue political interference which makes there task quite arduous, challenging and chilling. Opposition acronymed under INDIA alliance is right when it says it would be not be a strange surprise if they were booked on frivolous charges only to be put behind bars jolting their unity and amity on ground. However, I see a different perspective if attempts were to tighten noose around them than they would emerge as ultima beneficiaries garnering sympathy of electorate. Modi does know road to his third term will be hit by bumps ahead as may not have a smooth sailing thus pandering to whatever he could stretching and overstretching himself getting past the pothole? Time will only tell how far can he go from here
