Do You Know How ‘The Seven Wonders Of The World’ Were Chosen?

Taj Mahal

The seven wonders of the world were chosen by structured international polling. It was initiated by the Swiss entrepreneur Bernard Weber. The campaign mandated that the buildings had to be man-made and in a good enough state of preservation. Following a highly publicized global survey, the new list of the seven wonders of the world was unveiled on July 7, 2007, in Lisbon, Portugal.

A new list of the Seven Wonders of the World has The Taj Mahal at the top. The pyramid at Chichen Itza in Mexico, Christ the Redeemer in Brazil, the Roman Colosseum in Italy, the Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu in Peru, and the pink ruins of Petra in Jordan were the other six that made the list. Similarly, in our lives we have the seven wonders which are the finest creations of God. These are comparable to those well known architectures of the world.

The Taj Mahal, a perfect jewel of Muslim art is the tomb of Shah Jahan’s beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. This universally admired masterpiece is made of white marble that features semiprecious stones in geometric and floral patterns with the central dome surrounded by four other smaller domes.

A mother is the Taj of a child’s life. She is the first person to welcome her newborn to this world. She carries her baby for 9 months in her womb, 3 years in her arms and forever in her heart. A father is like the Great Wall of China, standing tall and stout to protect his child’s smile from all the hardships that he goes through. He sacrifices so many things for his little ones.

The Pyramid of Chechen Itza, Mexico is the most famous Mayan temple having 365 steps representing the number of days in a solar year. Likewise, cousins stay with us throughout the year and teach us the art of sharing and caring. Sisters are the second-best blessing after mom. Brothers never confess their love for the family but actually they can love more than anyone else in the world.

The colosseum in the city of Rome, Italy, is a feat of engineering. The amphitheater is capable of holding 50000 spectators who watch a variety of events. In the same way, friends make our life eventful by teaching us to respect people with different opinions and viewpoints.

Best friends are those stars in the sky that cannot be seen always but is known to exist. Grandparents are a symbol of dedication and community like the Machu Pichu where women lived in convents under a vow of chastity. Some also think it was likely a pilgrimage site or a royal retreat. Grandparents make us realize the values of sacrifice and compromise. We don’t need to fight the world to be with them.

Christ, the Redeemer is the largest Art Deco sculpture on earth. Its origins date to just after World War I , when some Brazilians feared a “tide of godlessness”. Equivalently, doctors teach us how to be selfless and think about others before ourselves. The Petra has noted carvers and Nabataeans who chiseled dwellings, temples, and tombs of sandstone which changed colors with the shifting Sun. Alike, teachers make our life colorful as they are willing to hold our hand when we need it the most

Thus, the incredible works of art and architecture referred to as the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World are proof of the creativity, inspiration, and pure labor of love that humans are capable of. But they also serve as a reminder of how vile, destructive, and perhaps embellishing humans can be.

In addition to this, we should also keep in mind that families provide us self-assurance and a sense of love. They are the rock solid pillars that support us and keep us going so that we can improve as humans. Through our families, we acquire the qualities of love, respect, faith, hope, and care, as well as the cultures, ethics, and traditions that affect us in every way.
