Schools Promoting Sexism

girls going to school

Schools have a history of encouraging sexism for a long, beginning with girls wearing skirts that are too short and ‘unethical.’

Last week, my sister in ninth grade came up to me and said that her class teacher asked the girls to wear ‘little longer’ skirts as according to her they were finding ways to attract guys.

When some female students spoke out against it, saying that the statement is quite discriminatory and wrong, she kept going on and said “not all the girls are such but some” which again was so wrong and flashed inner misogyny, the teacher clearly was feeding this to the children as well.

She continued ranting for 30 minutes straight and said “Girls coming upto the co-ordinator and complaining about boys abusing or slut-shaming them is actually their own fault cause they gave them an opportunity to do so by wearing their uniforms in an inappropriate manner“.

It was sadly my former school as well and I too have been there, where I have been asked to wear a longer skirt or to tie my hair properly so I do not hamper the studies of the guys in my class.

Schools have been doing this for a long and even today, they raise kids in a way that encourages them to join the dysfunctional and toxic society.
