Positive & Negatives Of The Kerala Story

The Kerala Story

The Kerala Story

Ever since I came across the movie “The Kerala Story,” it has sparked my interest, and I have contemplated writing about it. While I acknowledge that the film aims to raise awareness among people, I cannot ignore the undeniable fact that it also leaves a profound impact on our minds, often leading to communal animosity. It is a common tendency for us to form perceptions based on what we have witnessed and I my opinion I don’t think that perceptions after this film are positive regarding discussed community.

An Overview

“The Kerala Story” is a film that offers a thought-provoking exploration of the current state of affairs in Kerala, a state in India. It presents a narrative that goes beyond mere entertainment and delves into the realm of societal commentary. The film’s primary focus is on radicalization, presenting it as a central theme throughout the storyline.

Rather than aiming solely to entertain its audience, “The Kerala Story” aims to educate and raise awareness about the processes and consequences of radicalization. It depicts the journey of individuals who become involved in radical ideologies, highlighting the factors and circumstances that contribute to their transformation. The film’s intent is to stimulate reflection and initiate discussions about the complex issues surrounding radicalization.

While “The Kerala Story” strives to make a powerful impact, it does so by pushing boundaries and presenting its message in an intense and sometimes unsettling manner. By portraying extreme situations and characters, the film seeks to provoke a strong emotional response from viewers. This approach aims to leave a lasting impression on the audience and prompt them to consider the current state of the country in light of the issues explored in the film.

Some facts and data

In its portrayal, “The Kerala Story” seems to create a perception that only Hindus are being converted to Muslims. However, it is crucial to acknowledge that the reverse is also true, and there are factual grounds to support this claim. A study published in 2011 by Pew Research, as reported in the Times of India, suggests that religious conversion has no significant impact on the global Muslim population. The number of individuals converting to Islam is roughly equivalent to those leaving the faith.

Furthermore, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Pravin Togadia has claimed that his organization has successfully reconverted over five lakh Christians and 2.5 lakh Muslims to Hinduism in the past decade through their “Ghar Wapasi” mission. Additionally, according to Wikipedia, 77% of new converts to Islam come from Christianity rather than Hinduism. These factual details serve to emphasize that religious conversion is not limited to a unidirectional flow, and it is essential to consider the broader perspective when discussing such matters.

Theatre Scenes

In certain cinema halls, a disheartening occurrence took place where, whenever the phrase ‘Allah Hu Akbar’ was mentioned in the movie, slogans such as ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Hindu Rashtra Ho Ke Rahega’ were heard in response. This incident highlights a contentious clash between different groups. The impact of this exchange may have been distressing for Muslim individuals present, underscoring the depth of attachment and polarization among people. This occurrence reveals the extent to which individuals were emotionally invested and passionately aligned with their respective beliefs.

What we must learn from movie

Conclusion

In conclusion, “The Kerala Story” can be characterized as a disconcerting yet impactful film that explores the theme of radicalization and its societal ramifications. Through its compelling storyline, the movie strives to stimulate conversations and increase awareness regarding the intricate and challenging nature of this pressing issue.

Personally, I strongly believe that rather than maintaining a distance based on our Hindu and Muslim identities, we should unite and support one another, working towards elevating the dignity of India as a whole. Ultimately, as viewers, it is within our power to shape our expectations of a film ignoring the political agendas.
