Broad daylight murder of nineteen year old Delhi University student Nikhil Chauhan pinpoints to the deteriorating and worsening law and order situation in the national capital. In 2011 another DU student Radhika Tanwar was shot at after being stalked for more than three and a half year situation around College campuses is totally alarming, putting the lives of scores of students at risk. Hard to predict if there will be any stop to it with both the Centre and Delhi government rubbing off their ends and shirking from taking the responsibility of passing the buck that has become the trend. Confrontation over services and transfer and posting of senior officers has been a visible bone of contention between Delhi Government and Centre with the latter bringing an ordinance annulling the Supreme Court judgement giving exclusive powers to Delhi Government. Should the centre and Delhi Government not partner in areas where there is a need for amity, coordination and cooperation than for an approach that is taking the capital no where with Delhi bombarded with different agencies on account of being a semi state
