Modi’s Pasmanda Pitch

PM Narendra Modi

PM Narendra Modi

With a few months remaining for the crucial parliamentary election PM Modi is going the extra mile by not holding himself against the will. His goodwill and generosity towards communities who have otherwise not been traditional BJP vote banks speak volumes of his efforts to narrow the gap materialising into positive gains for his party.

Modi does understand why it is important to bank on the support of those who have never been on the same page as for their ideological opposition to the BJP.

Muslims, who are the largest minority in the country have always been at the receiving end from social, cultural and economic deprivation to a sense of alienation and isolation from the mainstream. Over the last nine years we have witnessed how public floggings and lynchings have been normalised against on the slightest of suspicion of transporting and consuming beef.

From Akhlaq to Pehlu Khan, we have had enough such incidents encouraged and endorsed by custodians and footsoldiers of Hindutva. Grave in states of Hindi heartland where patriarchy and conservatism runs quite deep in the nerves and pulses of those feeling discontented and disgruntled at the very mention of M alphabet.

If Modi ji sounds so sincere and serious in pushing and pandering to the pleas of Pasmanda a category within Muslims who have traditionally and historically been impoverished, secluded and marginalised than he should show the guts to confront their worst of fears and concerns which is far more than real than being a mere rhetoric.

If you assure them of their rightful place, promising social justice, dignity and equality, then they will stand rock solid behind you. Modi ji, why are you escaping from taking punitive measures against your own ideology, brethren spewing venom against them?

What makes you so afraid and anxious unfortunately the last one was from Himanta Biswas Sharma, Assam CM, calling names to former US President Barrack Obama.

Trolls army and IT cells are significant drivers spreading this form of barb and bigotry if your political formation is interested in having Muslims in prominent profiles and positions. I understand that you will have to take the lead in breaking this impasse for better giving more and more number of tickets to them, increasing their representation in state legislatures and parliaments etc of you are so convinced of being a beacon of hope for them.

If only willing to walk the tightrope as else for the sake of lip service, rhetoric and propaganda which has stayed with your office all this while. The time is ripe to pick the right move is finally here, Mr PM, we shouldn’t be failing this constitutional mandate preserving their ethos in a civilisation which is so diverse, plural and distinct.
