Is TikTok Uplifting The Youth, Or Dragging Them Towards The End?

We all love doing Tiktok videos or using Tiktok as a medium to promote our business be it a small scaled or a large scaled. When a digital advertisement pop’s up in middle of a video or a content we are viewing, it surely does wonders in catching our attention towards it to some extent that after completing the video or content that we were watching, we are sure to at least view the digital advertisement that emerged in middle. But is it actually helping the youth to uplift themselves or dragging them towards the end? Every topic has its own pros and cons but lets view this to let the people decide what is actually more worthy of.

Facts says- “Tiktok ads and videos are a trend in 2023 with an engagement rate on Tiktok ads is 853% which is much higher than Facebook (currently renamed as Meta). This is highly due to the authentic nature of the ads on the platform where they often don’t like ads which leads to a far higher opportunity for audience engagement.” Whenever we view any content or even an app, we do see certain advertisements of brands promoting their product or company. Some are highly likely to be informative and worth the watch but what about those advertisements that are vulgar and puts a negative impact on the viewers watching it all of a sudden? It is a natural human psychology that when we view an advertisement or content all of a sudden it keeps on playing in back of out thoughts till the time we actually give our mind the power to let go of it at all or to actually become a researcher regarding that content through various other social networking platforms. It is a trend that the world now has become a digital buff and modernised with more of the branding and promotion happening digitally. Small-scale businesses find it to be the best to promote their businesses through digital brand engagement but isn’t it quite worth a thought that the more advantage the businesses which are actually good and need a promotion to reach more masses amongst different places of the world is benefitting more than that the adultery, vulgar, or the content that are actually not worth viewing or rather to say has the tendency to spread hatred and anger within people and impact the youth in a negative way is gaining at least 1% more popularity and interest.

What is most likely to be a highly popular medium to promote any such content is something that is highly popular amongst the youth. TikTok is the top most in the list following Meta, Instagram and Snapchat being the rest in serial. Another source laid another research that says “Tiktok being one of the most downloaded apps in 2020 with over 800 million monthly users.” The enigmatic popularity an entertainment app approach with is worth to think about whether we should actually use it to promote positivity or negativity amongst the masses as it is the youth who are more drawn towards this than matured adults. They sometimes gets emotionally involved so much in its likeness and to gain popularity that they actually forget that there is a fine line between good and evil. 

Not to depreciate the fact that be it a positive or a negative products, every business or contents or products are a result of enormous hard work and efforts to catch attention. But is it worth the lift amongst the youth to get drawn towards something that do not promote positivity, self growth, self love or self development. By the time, the youth actually gets the sense and maturity to understand between good or bad, it is of a high scope that it is too late till then to actually rectify the things that went wrong or the life that got destroyed or de shelved. 

Recently, I was reading an article that clearly stated that “Maturity does not come with age, it comes with damage”. But what if we do have a positive impact on people by promoting more of businesses or products that are more impactful in a positive way so much so that youth actually gets to learn more and inculcate the same in their lives thus by just leading towards the growth of not only self but the society as a whole. We do get influenced by content that puts a strong impact in viewership but if we change all to being a good content or product through the most popular and publicly demanding app that it would not only help the world to be a better place but also substitute the bad with the good impact.
