Parental Care Or Overprotection? Desi Families And Privacy

The concept of privacy itself is a strange term in Indian families. I struggled for privacy.

The term privacy is different for everyone. The word privacy sounds different to me than to others.

Indian parents think they are caring for their children or adults. They forget to give space to them

Offspring. They think they are protecting them. They forget the term “s p a c e’’ in that protection. They treat their adults like kids.

I saw so many families where they wanted every detail of the offspring’s life; if their offspring was willing to tell, then that was not a problem. In the name of protection, they can’t force them.

They should personally feel like sharing with them.

Everyone is part of our lives, but no one is life. Boundaries are important in every walk of life.

I came from the hostel recently, so I am witnessing some lifestyle changes.

When I was far away from home, I was independent, but not financially.

Independence and privacy go hand in hand, according to me.

When you are independent, you don’t have people; you learn things by yourself by default, and you have privacy.
