Month-Long Fast Ends With Eid Denoting Joy & Brotherliness

Eid holds immense importance for being a day of happiness. The word Eid denotes joy and happiness for all those who passed the month of Ramadan in prayers and good deeds. As the festival of Eid comes after the sighting of the new moon, the new month of Shawwal begins. The first day of this very ninth month of the Islamic calendar starts with the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The month of fasting obligates Muslims to refrain from eating from dawn to dusk and engaged them in pious deeds. During the day the Muslims become steadfast to do what has been ordained to do. They even do not forget to help the poor, the needy and one and all.

The month remains to be also seen as a time for reflection, purifying the soul, practising self-discipline, and demonstrating devotion to Allah, who knows everything. When we look back at our prayers during Ramadan we feel proud of ourselves for becoming better people.

On Eid day, Muslims wake up early and put on their best clothes. Most of them are seen wearing traditional dresses. They are suggested to go one way and return through another way. While going to the mosque they need to raise the Takbir.

I also feel excited to go to the mosque and join the Eid prayer with my dear ones though become emotional at the absence of my grandparents on the occasion.

After the completion of the special Eid prayer, we exchange hugs and greetings and approach each other’s houses. Eidi happens to be a vital gift to children who wait for this yearly gift. They want to collect more money received amidst this unique gift from elders.

This is a very very special day when we show readiness to collect with family and friends to cherish special bonds following the completion of celebrating a month of charity and spiritual reflection. Of course, we begin to feel free over the morning cup of tea or coffee which was forbidden for the past 30 days.

Undoubtedly, the annual festival remains an occasion when nothing but brings brotherly feelings that pervade all over. It is also a time to feel proud of becoming a better person. The new moon night conspicuously presents more or less a varied picture of our enthusiasm to celebrate the occasion with all the zest.
