Are We Doing Enough To Remove/Eradicate Malnutrition In India?

“Malnutrition never takes a day off, neither should we.”

Good nutrition has the power to empower the present and future generations. Undernourished children are at risk of under-performing in studies and have limited job prospects. This vicious cycle restrains the development of the country, whose workforce, affected mentally and physically, has reduced work capacity?

What Is Malnutrition?

Malnutrition means poor nutrition. Most commonly this is caused by not eating enough (undernutrition) or not eating enough of the right food to give your body the nutrients it needs.

A balanced diet should provide enough nutrients like calories, protein and vitamins, to keep you healthy.

Malnutrition can result in:

• unplanned weight loss

• muscle loss

• a low body mass index (BMI)

• vitamin and mineral deficiencies

which affects the function and recovery of every organ system which can lead to several diseases which in turn can lead to death of the undernourished person.

INDIA is the largest contributor of undernourished people in the world (Worldometer), with around 194.4 Million people, or 14.37% of its population not receiving enough nutrition.

A persistent issue and ongoing difficulty for India’s public administration is child malnutrition.

India Ranks 107 Among 121 Countries in Global Hunger Index and has Highest Child Wasting Rate.

Do You Ever Think About The Cause Of Malnutrition In India?

The answer we will always get is – *Poverty* – It is the main reason behind the lack of adequate nutritional food which results in malnutrition.

Are We Doing Enough At Our Part To Remove/Eradicate This Poverty??

Ask this question to yourself atleast once and think how a single person can start a small initiative of feeding economically unequal people. Even if we as an individual try to help one single person we can change the statistics for the betterment of the development of our country. We can help people to fight their battles and achieve what they wish for…

“Together we can feed the world.”

We all should take this responsibility as it is not only the job of the government and as being a citizen of this country we should always think for the development of our country.

“Feed a hungry person, feed your soul.”
