Delhi And Girls’ Safety Are Something That Will Remain Unmatched!

One after another, crimes against women globally are only on hike as per today’s scenario. Even after 75 years of independence, women safety and security lacks the least amount of concerns in India. This insufficiency results into the terror in women. Now if we come to picture the condition of the National Capital of India, Delhi along with its adjacent regions like Noida and Gurgaon and its industrial regions, women feel very skeptical, fearful while coming out after 6 in the evening.

Our blabbering never ends when we start to give women an ample amount of chance to flaunt their skills through education, sports, science, artistic activities and what not. But it is far beyond the lines of achieving the goals to make them feel secure in their own place. In Delhi and National Capital regions, the exponential growth of women habitants is prominent as most of the organizations and blue chip companies are opening the doors of opportunities for freshers and outsiders. Due to work, rotational shifts and meetings, women tend to stay back at their offices and when after 9 in the night, they commute in public transports other than metros, most of them complain about the horrible stares in the commuting vehicle. Taking cabs to get back to home has also its drawbacks as unfamiliarity grabs the nerve for most of us, girls.

As we imagine the horrendous picturization of night when our mind along with our mobile phones are on high alert until we knock on the doors of our homes, we are even not spared in daytime. In most of the worldwide surveys, it is no secret that India stands as the most dangerous country for women after gaining digital, pragmatic growth in other sectors. Delhi women are on the verge of immunizing their inner anxiety and horribility as ever-increasing phases of eve-teasing, molestation, remark-passing activities are almost on spike. Except metro connectivity ( as women crowd shifting to the one and only women compartment and making public transport harassment less in metros), other transportation vehicles and long journeys towards home to the workplace make daily summary a miserable experience.

Belonging from the women’s community, I am no alien to these daily dealing of harassment and nauseated activities. While living in Delhi for the purpose of higher studies and settling myself to see my career growth, I am somewhat a year young fresher here. As per my personal experience, on a very unfortunate day of October last year, when I came out alone to enjoy my day out, my days comes to an end with my poor being and eyes flashing out of tears when I got to come across a bunch of goons who literally splashed their semen on me and went vanished on a popular tourist park in Delhi. Never have I ever taken any decision to go out on my own to any forest-like park afterwards. Delhi is as ‘safe’ as it is.

Crimes like body shaming, bullying, abusing, eve-teasing, molestation, threats, stalks, uncomfortable stares and other physical and mental drastic torments are slowly turning into a normal part of women’s life, not only in Delhi but in the entire country. Most of the women keep it away from making it public as the humiliation multiplies into several times when they decide to reveal. People tend to name it a ‘dramatic plot’, look into the victims with squinted eyes. Muted bystanders or neutralized reactors in a word come into no work when most of the women are actively harassed or they are fighting alone in almost vacuum situations of having helping hands . As per the current events, here I attach an article of popular daily below as an evidence of the above statements.

Well, the infamous Nirbhaya incident in 2012 which titled the government of India and took a grip globally still gives us goosebumps and thunderbolts run through our spines while making it the most difficult for us to survive with the haunting recap. Delhi, being the Indian capital along with its great mixed culture from all around the country and outside might face the inferiority complex while lacking the ability to safeguard its own women. Thousands of protests, rallies, awareness campaigns, defence classes, talks, tv shows, discussions, and amendments must have come in the front row several times but the mourning picture in reality hasn’t been changed yet. CCTV cameras are expanding in the city for the emergency calls for women but Delhi’s discomfiting graphs related to women security proves the situation has only worsened day by day.

A sovereign country like India needs to work on the active and strong implementation of laws and its underlying rapid actions against the criminals who might have been fleeing from their consequences. The rapidly growing tumour needs to be treated well before it turns into cancer and we lose our control on it.

Malicious insects like rapists, molesters and roadside romeos will be in the society and continue living a king size life if we are not focusing on the roots of the issue. Treating children the senses of touch, introducing sex education in schools and also, appointing child psychologists not only in private schools but also in govt. schools to ensure children are having safe mental belongings with them from early childhood. These facts and solutions are only valid if they are given proper priority and get into action. Background check of a male child is also important to get the family roots and its training in home. The growing age and the learnings we get in this age matters a lot in building our future actions and morales. There will absolutely be no wisdom to celebrate Delhi being the most surveilled city while its citizen itself takes no responsibility of following minimum humanity to protect the women. As we proceed further towards upcoming days, it is must to say, Delhi needs a lot to cross multiple milestones before giving its women the perfect wings to feel free and survive without any hauntings.
