Humanities, as the word suggests denotes a variety of subjects that attempts to explain the various aspects of mankind. Historically, Humanities as a discipline has been marginalised and kept away from the mainstream course of study. It has been regarded as a subject of lesser importance due to the misconception that it provides very less to no CAREER OPPORTUNITIES. well, this misconception has arisen due to the lack of awareness as well as vigilance among people which is due to the lack of education. Historically, the streams like SCIENCE and MATHS have been given the utmost importance. The very reason that these streams have been dominant since centuries is that they provide good, high paying jobs. On the other side humanities does not necessarily ensures one a high money-making job just after one’s UG or PG DEGREE. But slowly and gradually humanities is seen making its space in the mainstream course of study. With the ever-growing population and as a result demand for jobs, people have started making career in Humanities. Moreover, the growing competition in the field of other respective streams has also contributed to humanities (which has historically been marginalised) coming to the centre. Also, with the rising issues like Anxiety and depression especially among our youths and teens has led people to focus on the subjects like psychology which again comes under humanities, the world is realising the importance of humanities and hence it could be undeniably said that HUMANITIES HAS BECOME THE CENTRE OF ATTENTION IN TODAY’S WORLD. Humanities as a discipline provides a number of jobs in various sectors. It provides a wide-ranging set of opportunities that can lead from a lawyer, a professor to opportunities in field like fashion designing, music, painting, architecture etc. Humanities is not just a subject but a way of life. Philosophy which is an integral part of humanities is the mother of all subjects and discipline. Therefore, it can be concluded that HUMANITIES has been the first ever discipline to exist and its importance and urgency is now gradually being understood.
