Nahargarh Fort is situated at a supreme height of the city and is related to the history of Amber Fort. 2 or 3 years ago, tourists were permissible to go to two connected forts- Jaigarh & Nahargarh from inside the tunnel of Amber Fort, but after the pandemic, both forts have got separate ways which are easily reachable with car or jeep. 

History

Nahargarh Fort was built in the early 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur, as a part of the city’s defence system. The fort was later extended by Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh in the late 19th century. Nahar means lion which is a symbol of bravery. The building of the fort is well planned that enemy army has to get defeated for sure. 

Beautiful Location: The fort is located on the Aravalli Hills, overlooking the city of Jaipur. It is situated at a height of 700 feet above the city. It is assured that you will get mesmerized by the view of entire Jaipur city from the top hill and get a panoramic view.

Architecture: Nahargarh Fort has a unique blend of Indo-European architecture. The fort has several palaces, temples, and gardens within its premises. The fort is also famous for its intricate carvings and stunning frescoes.

Significance: The fort played an important role in the history of Rajasthan. It was used as a retreat by the kings during times of war and also served as a hunting lodge.

The fort is a popular tourist attraction in Jaipur. Some of the popular attractions within the fort include the Madhavendra Bhawan, a palace with nine identical apartments; the Nahargarh Biological Park, which is home to several species of wildlife; and the Jaipur Wax Museum, which houses wax statues of famous personalities. Best time to visit

The best time to explore the attractions of Rajasthan is from October to March when the weather is pleasant. As you climb high atop the Hills, you can fill a slight cold wave in December or January Months. 

Entry fee and timings: The entry fee for Nahargarh Fort is INR 50 for Indians and INR 200 for foreigners. The fort is open from 10 am to 5:30 pm, and it is closed on Tuesdays.

How to reach: Nahargarh Fort has located about 6 km from the city centre of Jaipur. It can be reached by hiring a taxi or a local bus. The nearest airport is the Jaipur International Airport, which is located about 20 km from the fort.
